Charges laid after pair shoplift in Wonthella

A female and male have been charged with various offences after an incident at a Wonthella store in the early hours of Sunday morning.

At about 4.55am, 1 female and 1 male offender entered a store in Wonthella, the male approached the victim and was advised there was no free food. He subsequently left the store.

The female walked to a sunglass stand and stole several pairs of glasses then left the store.

The victim requested the female return the items and when she refused, he contacted police. The victim approached the female taking hold of her arm, telling her remain until police arrived.

The female then struck the victim to the jaw.

The male offender intervened attempting to separate the victim and female offender. The victim advised the Police were on the way and the male struck the victim twice to the jaw, causing the attendant to let go of the female.

Both offenders left the scene in a vehicle.

Police conducted inquiries yesterday two offenders were apprehended and conveyed to Geraldton Police Station.

A 20 year old female from Beachlands has been charged with 1 count of stealing and 1 count of assault to prevent arrest.

A 20 year old male from Spalding has also been charged with 1 count of assault to prevent arrest.

They will both face Geraldton Magistrates Court on 24 April 2014.
