Midwest Fishing Report by Tackleworld Country
/BEACHES
GREENOUGH FIRST AND SECOND POINTS -
Tailor to 50cm being caught on baits and lures.
Mulloway to 10-12kg have been reported and Sharks to 6 - 7ft have been caught from the points.
DRUMMONDS COVE CAR PARKS -
Tailor and Sharks being caught late arvos and evenings.
RIVERS
GREENOUGH RIVER -
Bream to 30cm have been reported from kayak anglers fishing the deeper sections of river.
Mangrove Jack have again been reported by anglers fishing big baits around the rock bars.
Lloyd our fishing manager nailed a nice Jack earlier this week from a secret location in the Greenough (Pictured below)
Devlin's pool has seen Bream to 30cm.
There was also reports of a dead Mulloway around 8 - 10kg washed up at the mouth.
CHAPMAN RIVER -
Bream to 30cm have been plentiful early mornings and late afternoons, with soft plastics working a treat at the times.
ROCKWALLS
LOCAL ROCK WALLS -
Reports of Tailor to 30cm and Herring from behind the fishermans wharf rock walls.
Small chopper tailor to 30cm are still in numbers inside the local harbours. Evening has been the best time with the Tailor coming in to feed under the harbour lights.
Again this week we have been flooded with reports of Cod being caught from inside the harbours, Cod between 30 and 60cm have been common. Soft plastics and live baits have been the preferred method.
OFFSHORE
MAIN CHANNEL -
The bait that has been hanging around the markers is still there, anglers have been dropping bait jigs and cleaning up on fresh bait recently.
PENSIONERS BANK -
Reports of Dhu fish to 6kg from the banks south of town and Trout to 58cm from the banks north of town.
Again this week we are hearing more solid reports of more Spanish Mackerel being caught by lure trolling fisherman.
AFRICAN REEF -
Dhu fish are around in numbers all around big and little African with good reports this week of fish to over 8kg being found.
Metal jigs and soft plastics have again been the winners for fishing thru here.
Anglers that have been fishing wide of African have told us of Pink Snapper to 5kg and Baldchin Grouper to around 60cm being found in depths of 40m plus.
ISLANDS -
Long Island has seen good numbers of Pink Snapper and Dhu Fish while reports from anglers fishing south of the coral patches have told us of Coral Trout up to 70cm eating metal jigs nonstop.
Wreck Point is firing for Spanish Mackerel to 16kg.
