Free shuttle bus service for Cold Chisel concert goers

The countdown is on! Rock legends Cold Chisel will be in Geraldton tomorrow!

There will be a free shuttle bus service for concert goers which will be leaving from Foreshore Drive (opposite Lot 601) in the CBD with buses leaving every 15 minutes from 5pm to 8pm.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor, Shane Van Styn, said local police, event promotors and the City worked together to provide the free shuttle bus service for safety and traffic reasons.

“Having free parking in the CBD and providing a free shuttle bus service reduces traffic congestion at the concert site and it reduces the risk of road accidents,” he said.

“It is also a reminder for those attending the concert to be safe and not to drink and drive.”

Return buses will be leaving Eadon Clarke Oval (GBSC Sports Park) from 10pm – midnight.

This means there will be free parking in Lot 601 as well as at the Batavia Coast Marina Carpark for those wanting to use the shuttle bus service.

Security as well as security lighting will be in place in both free car parking areas from 5pm – 1am.

Parking is also available onsite at Eadon Clarke Oval (GBSC Sports Park) but people are reminded that no parking is permitted on surrounding street verges or local resident’s properties. Rangers will be issuing infringements to vehicles parking illegally around the perimeter.

There will be free water at the event but people are reminded to bring their own water bottles.

A number of local food vendors will also be at the concert including Skeetas, The Provincial, Burnt Barrel, Culinary HQ, Geraldton Greenough Farmers Markets, Lions Club, The Yard Bar and Geraldton Coffee Bar.

There will be everything from steak and pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, chips, paella, a sausage sizzle as well as drinks such as coffee, iced fruit drinks and frappes.
There will also be a bar selling alcoholic beverages.

There is no seating available however picnic rugs or low back chairs are allowed but high back chairs must be positioned towards the rear of the venue.

Gates open for the concert at 5pm and tickets are still available from www.ticketek.com.au

You can find full details about the concert on the City’s website http://ow.ly/UrXtg

Why Geraldton businesses are turning to the Internet

Facebook has recently reported a staggering 1.23 billion active monthly users - That’s one seventh of the entire population of Earth.

So it’s easy to see why everyone has their heads buried in their smartphones every waking hour.

“We’re having fun posting photos of us having fun”

This is the reality of living in 2015, but it’s a cloud with a silver lining…

– Why?

Because the way we live our lives, and conduct both personal and business relationships has changed. Much of our lives are lived online, and Facebook has become an extension of us

Is this really such a bad thing? Why would so many choose to live their lives on smartphones if they didn’t want to? People worldwide love social media, and the business world has caught on.

The social media boom has meant big changes for business – They’ve adapted to life in 2015.

Business owners realise that if they put the message out there, people will read it – As long as they can find the right way to reach their target audience.

As with anything, some methods are more effective than others, and there are many variables which govern what methods will work best for your business.

So what online marketing methods will work on a local level for somewhere like Geraldton?

• Social media marketing.

Simple – make social media accounts for your business, tell people about it and try to build a local audience.

• Search engine marketing.

Search engine marketing (SEM) is about optimising your business’ website to be found by your target market through search engine optimisations (SEO). You can, of course, pay to go to the top of Google for selected search terms.

• Content marketing.

Content marketing is creating valuable and interesting content for the purpose of building trust and awareness in your business, which will in turn bring users to your website and social media channels. When done right, and through an influential outlet, content marketing can be an extremely powerful tool.

These methods have overtaken the traditional advertising and marketing routes like ads in the newspaper or on the back of dockets.

The reason? They’re more effective.

These forms of advertising are being used all over the world right now, and are fast becoming the primary strategies of some of the biggest companies out there.

As with all marketing or advertising, each of these methods comes at a cost. Facebook & Google offer limited exposure where you have a budget, and receive a set number of clicks or impressions.

Content marketing is a bit different - This is where an already credible website (usually a news / magazine site) will post and share your content to their audience for a set price. In turn your own website will gain credibility and be boosted in search engine rankings. It’s like an all-in-one package, and you can reach many more people than if you were to go solely through Google or Facebook, because you will be seen on both through the shared content.

Does content marketing work in a town like Geraldton?

Yes, certainly – In fact, a small community like ours is perfect for this. The only vital ingredient: a local platform to publish the content where it will be seen.

The fact that you are reading this article proves just how effective content marketing can be.

They’ve really stepped out of the box with their menu, bringing together great Mexican flavours using some of the world’s favourite superfoods, namely antioxidant rich black rice and amaranth seeds, with their new IQ range, infused with Spirulina!

What To Watch For When You Go Green

Sponsored by…

Are you considering installing a solar system or already have solar on your property?

In most instances, this is a great idea. You get to lower your power bills, and do something for the environment and your children’s future environment.

Some things to consider when investing in a solar/ renewable energy system:

  • It’s important to do your research before you place an order, or sign on the dotted line.
  • If possible look around & speak with your neighbours and friends, other people in your local area who have installed solar PV systems - You may be able to pick up some tips from their experiences, and advice on not what to do!
  • Be careful if you intend buying a system from someone who knocks on your door - Door sales and phone sales companies do not have representation in your area, no matter what they say. These types of companies have vast advertising budgets and great buying power, to offer you the cheapest system you can buy, but it will come at a price!
  • Who do you call when you need a warranty or service?
  • Have they installed it properly and to Australian Standards, so it will be safe for years to come?

Do it right the first time and give Sun City Solar a call on 9965 4089 – or pop in and see us at 140 Flores Road.

Sponsored: Shane Van Styn - Mayor - Thank You Greater Geraldton

First of all to outgoing Mayor - Ian Carpenter

Over the 10 years you have served on Council and being the Mayor since 2007 you have always been a hardworking diligent servant to the community who has set the bar of work ethic very high. Your honesty and integrity is beyond reproach and is something I will uphold.

To the staff of the City of Greater Geraldton

There has been much talk of change during the campaign and I will allow the recent wave of change time to make its mark financially and for people to settle in to the current new structure.

We will look for continued efficiencies but in a way that staff welfare is placed at the forefront of our mind, after all we cannot deliver the essential services our City requires without you.

To my supporters in this election

The Easy Way To Get Rid Of Those Love Handles

Most of us know how hard it can be to tone up those difficult areas - Namely the tummy, thighs and lower back. Even if you live a healthy, active lifestyle with regular exercise, these areas can still prove to be sticklers.

For those who want to address these problem areas without invasive surgery, there is an alternative.

Skin Geraldton, who are now settled in their new practice at 194 Durlacher Street, are the only people in town using Vanquish – The revolutionary fat removal system.

Vanquish uses radio frequency waves to kill fat cells without damaging skin or muscle. It has been labelled a ‘breakthrough’ by experts. There’s no need for anaesthesia or needles, and sessions are performed in less than hour.

3 – 4 sessions are recommended for the best results, which will begin to show from 2 weeks after the last session.
