Elderly man bashed in Mahomets

A 75-year-old male was bashed this morning whilst walking his dog in Mahomets Flats.

The incident occurred around 5:35am on Hadda Way near the Geraldton Surf Club.

The elderly gentleman heard a noise behind him, and as he was turning around he was struck to the face and subsequently fell to the ground. Whilst on the ground the elderly wan was punched and kicked by at least two offenders.

When the assault ceased, one of the offenders went through his pockets stealing some change.

The victim, who is a pensioner, lost consciousness and woke to find two members of the public helping him up. He sustained extensive injuries to his head and face and as a result was conveyed to Geraldton Regional Hospital for examination and treatment.
