Man charged after stealing $30,000 bobcat

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA A 35-year-old male has been charged after he stole a bobcat on Sunday night worth around $30,000.

The bobcat was stolen from an address in Utakarra and at about 12:30am this morning, Police received information from a member of the public advising a bobcat was being driven on a road in the suburb of Narngulu.

Police attended to the area and located the vehicle on Edward Road. The vehicle continued along Edward Road at a slow speed for a period before stalling and coming to a stop.

The bobcat was confirmed stolen from the incident on Sunday and a male was arrested.

He was taken to the Geraldton Police Station where a search was conducted and it was found that he was in possession of a small amount of cannabis and amphetamine.

He was charged with with the following offences:

1 x Steal Motor Vehicle 1 x Possess Prohibited drug (Cannabis) 1 x Possess Prohibited drug (Amphetamine)

His bail was refused and he is to appear at the Geraldton Magistrates court today.
