Save and play this winter with KidSport
/With winter sport registrations underway across a variety of clubs – Member for Geraldton Ian Blayney MLA said now was the perfect time to sign up to become a KidSport kid. Kidsport is a partnership between the State Government and local governments, which allows families to apply for financial assistance of up to $200 a year per child towards club fees.
Families with children aged 5 – 18 years who have a healthcare card, pension concession card or who are referred by a recognised referral agent, are eligible to receive a KidSport voucher.
“Since September 2011, more than 26,000 Western Australians have become KidSport kids,” Mr Blayney said.
In a new innovation for KidSport this season, clubs can now register online which allows club volunteers to make registration more efficient and less time-consuming. Clubs can register online at: clubsonline.dsr.wa.gov.au/kidsport.
“Clubs have enthusiastically embraced the program and the Government hopes the new online registration is going to make it easier for even more clubs to become involved,” Mr Blayney said.
“Ultimately this means more kids and their parents getting involved in sport and recreation.
“As people sometimes see the cooling weather as an indicator that it’s time to hide inside, I’d like to encourage kids and their families to join a club, perhaps experience a new sport and get active.”
“As winter approaches and team registrations are underway, I encourage anyone who thinks they might be eligible to contact their local government or get further details from www.clubsonline.dsr.wa.gov.au/kidsport.”
