The artist behind Geraldton’s street art

Meet Jordan Andreotta, a 28-year-old artist who we can thank for the amazing street art we see around the Geraldton CBD.

Jordan has been in Geraldton for 4 years and is an art teacher at Nagle Catholic College. He studied art at Curtin University before studying Education at UWA.

He has worked on several of the great artworks we see around Geraldton and he said there is more to come.

The bright pieces of art have been strategically painted onto places that were otherwise quite dull.

But the talented artist said there is a lot of motive behind the pieces of art.

“The pieces all really try to portray a positive message and raising awareness about issues,” Jordan said.

“In one of the pieces words such as 'change' and 'choice' are used to strike a feel of positivity within the community.”

Jordan said creating “thought provoking work” was what it was all about.

“We want to create art that is thought provoking and something that people see as a real feature in Geraldton,” he said.

“It’s about turning a space that was once neglected into something great.”

Jordan has worked with other local artist Shah Jackey on the projects and the pair have also engaged local students in the projects.
