New app allows you to book a Geraldton taxi

SmartHail is an app which allows you to create a taxi booking straight from your phone.

Geraldton is among 60 locations across Australia and New Zealand to be used in the app.

Kobie Pember from the Association of Taxi Drivers in Geraldton said people didn’t understand the full capabilities of the technology.

“Unfortunately a lot of people don't understand the power of smartphone apps,” he said.

“People can now book a taxi and see where the taxi is that has been dispatched to them.”

SmartHail allows you to create bookings that uses the SmartMove dispatching system and you can use your current location or enter an address.

As the booking is placed directly from the app, there is no waiting on hold for an operator to take the booking and once the driver accepts the booking, the vehicle is displayed on the map.

You can then receive notifications when the vehicle is en-route or when the vehicle has arrived at the pickup address.

This new service utilises all of Geraldton Associated Taxis.
