Serco could have to pay $200,000 fine for escape of Geraldton prisoners

Today, Corrective Services Minister Joe Francis told Radio 6PR that he expected Serco to not only pay the cost of recapturing prison escapees Cameron John Graham and Kelden Edward Fraser, but also pay a $200,000 fine. The Minister believed the estimated cost of the search and capture of the pair last month would be about $450,000.

Mr Francis said the company are responsible for what happened.

“I basically hold them responsible for what happened in Geraldton,” he told 6PR.

“If they'd have checked the material state of the van, it could have been avoided.”
