Man arrested after causing a disruption in court

A 35 year old man has been arrested after causing a loud disruption in court, and being abusive toward Police.
On the morning of Thursday 12 September 2013, the man was present in a court room at Geraldton Magistrates Court. He was spoken to by court staff when he became agitated and proceeded to raise his voice and swear, causing interruptions of the court proceedings at the time, according to Police.
Court staff approached the male to take him into custody, but he immediately exited the court room in haste. A police officer approached the man, placing him under arrest, while he continued his aggressive and abusive manner toward Police.
On the way to Geraldton Police Station the man continued his behaviour and attempted to break free from Police. A scuffle ensued and the male was handcuffed. On approaching the entrance of the Police Station, the male kicked at the front glass doors, causing damage by derailing them.
The man was arrested and will face Geraldton Magistrates Court on 19 September 2013 facing charges of Obstructing Police & Criminal Damage.
