Dr Sudhakar Rao, head of Royal Perth Hospital's trauma unit: "Patients that end up in the ICU, which suggests they have very serious injuries, were the ones that you could actually trace back their history and find they had behaviour on the road which was high risk, such as alcohol consumption, no seatbelts or using electronic hand devices when driving," he said.

There is a structure fire on Hampton Road/North West Coastal Highway, near the intersection of Mary Street, in Northampton.
The fire started in a hardware store and is now burning in a number of buildings in the area.
Smoke and possibly toxic fumes from the fire are moving in an easterly direction.
WHAT TO DO:
• WA Police are working in the area to evacuate residents that may be affected. People are urged to follow the advice of Police and leave the area.
• People should close their doors and windows and switch off air conditioners.
• People should stay away from the area. If you are already in the area take advice from emergency services personnel.
• People with medical concerns should contact their local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.
• Your safest option may be to visit family or friends who live away from the area.
ROAD CLOSURES:
Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site
A number of roads have been closed including:
• Hampton Road/North West Coastal Highway
• Mary Street
• Stephen Street

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
• Approximately 30 firefighters are on the scene.
Firefighters have saved a number of buildings and are working to contain the fire.
EXTRA INFORMATION:
• The incident was reported at 1.41pm today.
• The cause of the fire is unknown.

"Car crashed into playground fence and equipment at Daycare Centre Mt Tarcoola, police attended and have arrested driver who was doing burnouts from a party around the corner."
In a seperate incident, it appears people are placing traffic cones in the middle of the road on Chapman are.

"...there are some idiots putting traffic cones across chapman road where there is road maintenance going on. It's happened to me three times now. Twice at about 5:30 in the morning. And once tonight just then. We didn't notice them until they were right in front of us."
Geraldton Police have provided an update regarding a motor vehicle accident that occurred yesterday in Wicherina.
At about 8.00am on Sunday 12th April 2015 police were advised about a single vehicle crash approximately 45km from Geraldton on Wicherina South Road Wicherina.
On arrival police observed a Toyota Landcruiser station wagon on its roof approximately 30 metres off the road.
One adult male and one adult female were declared deceased at the scene. Midwest Gascoyne Traffic Enforcement are investigating the crash.
A 16 year old who says he was hit by a car while riding his moped on Brand Highway yesterday is reaching out to the community in the hope of finding anyone who might have witnessed the incident.
Jason says he was travelling along the Brand Highway heading South towards Wandina at approximately 11am yesterday 9/4/15 near Sydney street when a small vehicle turned into him.
"I was travelling straight at the speed limit and they cut across the road hitting me," he says. "I hit the front of it flew a couple of metres."
Jason says he was in a fair amount of shock and can't confirm the exact colour and make of the car.
Jason says the driver and passenger of the car stopped and helped him off the road, said they'll get a ute for the moped, then just drove off.
"There was road works going ahead and the lads working gave me a hand getting me off the road and taking the moped home, one worker named Matt called the ambulance for me."
He says the driver and passenger of the car were both male aged approx 18-20.
Jason was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries. He spoke with Police while in hospital and informed them that he believes he knows the passenger of the vehicle through mutual friends. "I was going to message him on Facebook about the incident and he blocked me."
Jason is hoping someone witnessed the incident and asks that if they did to please come forward.

A 27 year old man from Spalding has been arrested following a pursuit by Police on Tuesday.
Police say on Tuesday morning around 10:50am (7/4/15) a Mitsubishi Pajero was heading south along Chapman Rd in Sunset Beach.
Police tried to get the driver to stop the vehicle. The driver instead accelerated away from Police heading through Spalding and Strathalbyn. During the pursuit he took out a fence and went through bushland.
Police say they abandoned the pursuit, but a short time later located the vehicle abandoned on Mahogany Cove and Candlebark Drive in Strathalbyn. Police then searched for the driver on foot.
With the assistance of local residents police say they found the driver trying to hide in the rear yard of a home.
The 27 year old male from Spalding was arrested and he will appear at the Geraldton Magistrate Court on 23 April 2015 on the following charges;
1 x Reckless Driving
1 x Fail to Stop to Evade Police
1 x No Authority to Drive

"We just had a high speed chase through Rangeway ... ending with this car being pulled over outside my house. There were 2 males in the car..."

A woman has died after her car caught fire in Western Australia's Mid West region.

Geraldton Police have issued the following information:
On Saturday 4 April 2015 a vehicle was travelling on the Geraldton – Mt Magnet Road, Northern Gully.
It is believed that the vehicle veered to the side of the road at low speed before coming into contact with the gravel shoulder. It will be alleged that the vehicle travelled approximately 45 metres on the gravel verge before coming to a rest in the bush area. It is believed that the bush surrounding the vehicle has caught fire, resulting in the vehicle being incinerated.
Police, St John Ambulance and Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene where the vehicle was destroyed by fire. The 42 year old female driver of the vehicle died as a result of the incident.
Inquiries are ongoing by officers attached to the Mid West-Gascoyne Traffic office.

A Three Springs man has been arrested and charged after allegedly driving into a house and then driving off.
The incident occurred around 8:30am on Saturday according to Police (28/3/15).
The driver lost control as he attempted to make a right turn at the corner of Stokes Ct and Tamblyn St in Spalding.
Police stated that "Upon heavy acceleration, the vehicle lost traction causing the rear wheels of the vehicle to spin on the road surface."
"Passing to the incorrect side of the road, the wheels of the vehicle collided with kerbing resulting in total loss of control. The vehicle mounted another kerb before crashing into a house on Stokes Court, causing extensive damage."
The driver fled the scene and obviously didn't report the incident to Police.
After being located by Police, the man has been charged with:

A 14 year old male pedestrian suffered minor grazing and bruising after being struck by a vehicle in Rangeway on Monday, Police say.
According to Police, the boy was struck after failing to observe the oncoming traffic prior to crossing the road. The incident occurred around 9am at the intersection of Rifle Range Rd and Scott Rd.
The driver of the vehicle was unable to stop in time and will not face any charges over the crash.
Police and paramedics attended the scene and the boy was conveyed to the Geraldton Regional Hospital as a precaution.
A high speed chase through the suburbs of Geraldton has ended in Rangeway.
A number Geraldton residents have contacted Everything Geraldton saying they witnessed the chase.

A child is doing fine after an incident yesterday that could have ended a lot worse.
According to witnesses, around 3 pm yesterday a young girl was hit by a vehicle in Bluff Point on the North West Coastal Highway.
Police say a mother and her child were waiting to cross the road when it appears the young child has run out onto the road.
The driver of a passing minivan had seen the child and attempted to take evasive action swerving away. Police say the child hit the side of the minivan.
The 3 year old girl only received minor injuries, but mother and child were taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital as a precaution.
The child had a blood lip, but Police say they believe the injuries are not serious or life threatening.
