Close to $10,000 raised at local fundraiser

Without a final figure yet, organisers from Saturday’s Girls Night In fundraiser say they have raised close to $10,000.

Locals Chez McKeating and Marilyn Heberle organised the event to raise money for Perth’s Crawford House.

A total of 150 woman packed Eighth Street’s Activewest Basketball stadium for a night of girly fun.

With fashion parades, displays, giveaways, raffles and entertainment, the Mid West Community got behind the cause to see a whopping total raised.

Crawford House is a home away from home for people who are undergoing treatment for cancer.

Organiser Chez McKeating said she was absolutely blown away with the support of the Mid West community.

“The people in this community are absolutely amazing, they are the ones that spur me on to do things like this,” she said.

“The response we got was absolutely huge and people’s generosity is astounding.

“So many people donated time, food, products and energy to this and I cannot thank them enough!”

Air show flies into Geraldton for another year

The Midwest’s own military and vintage air show returns on March 8, for one day and night only.

From 3pm, enjoy a dazzling air display, helicopter joy flights and aerobatics. Then at dusk thrill to the big band sound and magnificent stage show of the Royal Australian Navy Band – WA Detachment.

Last year they had the audience dancing through the night – even in the rain - and they are returning to Geraldton for another stunning performance. In previous years, Valley View began with the concert and continued with the air and vintage show on the Sunday.

Committee chair Ron Hayward said the action will be packed into one very big and very exciting day.

“We had strong feedback that was what the public wanted, so here it is,” Mr Hayward said.

“Patrons will get all the adrenaline of the air show, followed by an evening of fantastic music.”

Proceeds of the event are shared among Geraldton’s cadet units – Army, Navy and Air Force.

Valley View Summer Concert & Air Display will be held at Northern Gully, just 30kms from Geraldton on Saturday March 8, and tickets are limited.
