The Queens Park Theatre is re-opening

The Queens Park Theatre will reopen its doors this weekend with two great opening shows!

The 3 Chinese Tenors will be performing on Friday 22nd July followed by Peter Garret and his band The Alter Egos on Saturday 23rd July.

The 3 Chinese Tenors sing in Italian, French, German, English and Chinese, all in the one program. They take their audiences on a musical journey across cultures and time. Their program combines a wide range of classical opera, Neapolitan, musical theatre, and storytelling into a single evening of laughter and enjoyment.

Peter Garrett will be performing songs from his first ever solo album “A Version of Now” with his band The Alter Egos. It takes the listener on a candid remembrance trail; the tone both stridently distinctive and unexpectedly tender, as one of the greatest front men in Australian rock reflects on his motives, his losses and gains and finds his resolve – surprise — utterly unbowed.

Comedian Xavier Toby puts a spin on FIFO life

With a background that includes engineering, journalism, creative writing and comedy, Xavier Toby is bringing his stand-up show ‘Mining My Own Business’ to Geraldton.

It’s a land where everything is either highly expensive, huge machinery, or hi vis: right down to the socks, jocks and skid marks; where expletives are punctuation, a $50 note is loose change, and the safety regulations are tighter than NASA, but there are still plenty of people who break the rules.

Over the last decade Xavier's been performing on the comedy circuit and at festivals throughout Australia and around the world, at the same time as frequently contributing to several highly regarded newspapers, magazines and websites.

During 2014 Xavier has continued to perform at comedy clubs and festivals, as well as staging his regularly sold-out comedy and history walking tour. His touring in 2014 & 2015 has taken him around the world, including a run of sold out shows in New York City, where he currently resides when not in Australia.

Xavier Toby will perform at the QEII Centre on Saturday, 5 March at 7:30pm. You can find more information and buy tickets on the Queens Park Theatre website by heading to http://ow.ly/YJbYo or you can purchase tickets from the Civic Centre, Geraldton Regional Library and Geraldton Visitor Centre.

Internationally acclaimed guitar duo to hit Geraldton - the Grigoryan Brothers

Australia’s most respected guitar duo, the Grigoryan Brothers, will bring their astounding skills to Geraldton this month at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre on 17 February.

‘This Time’ is the latest release by the duo and their sixth release. This highlights the brothers’ astounding skills which are at the core of the critical acclaim they have achieved in Australia and on the international stage.

Slava and Leonard have a deep appreciation and understanding of a broad spectrum of musical styles. This has resulted in many collaborations involving music, both written and improvised. Combine this with their classical training and the result is a unique sound incorporating all these influences. It is not classical, not jazz, not world....it is the Grigoryan Brothers.

Since their first Australian tour in 2002, the duo has astounded audiences worldwide with their guitar virtuosity. They have toured extensively throughout Australia and overseas including Europe, the United States, Britain, Asia, South Africa and the Middle East.

For this tour the Grigoryan Brothers will be performing works from ‘This Time’ as well as a selection of works from their previous releases.

The Grigoryan Brothers will be appearing at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre on 17 Wednesday February 2016, at 7pm. Tickets are now on sale at www.queensparktheatre.com.au or from the Civic Centre, Regional Library and the Geraldton Visitor Centre.
