Windy, big swells & cold across the board!! Some weeks the fish report is difficult….and this is one of them. With a weeks worth of large swells and strong winds there has not been a lot of fishing stories. Apparently 6 metre swells tend to put people off! Our fishing guru, Craig Wise, did the smart thing. He has headed to Exmouth for some better fishing. This is what our fisherman takes with him! Craig came to Tackleworld through his love (and lets say obsessive nature) about fishing. His dream was to join the team and talk fishing all day, his sunny disposition made him a natural addition to our team. He really is a lot of fun to work with!!

Fishing1

Craig was out hunting mulloway last weekend down off the jetty and even he found it difficult. He took these photos of his catch even with 30knot winds and just 7 degrees. He was working with some watermelon 6’ gulp and caught this nice little soapie.

AFTA – Australian Fishing Tackle Association conference at Gold Coast 2014

John recently travelled to the Gold Coast for the annual trade association conference. It is every fishermans wet dream to be in a centre full of the latest fishing gear available this year. John has come back full of enthusiasm about the products on offer from Daiwa, Shimano, Halco, Rapala and many more. Look in store for new stocks coming in over the following month

LOCAL ROCKWALLSThe new lookout in the harbour has been a popular spot for the land based anglers with lots of Skippy, pinkies and big cod also Tailor have also been caught there, for those with dingy's seal rock is also getting good fish as well with Moses Perch to 30cm. it is also worth throwing out a squid jig for a feed of squid. Remember to burly up for better results and also the less weight the better.

6

BEACHES This week's LOCAL HERO is Daniel Guppy who has been smashing the tailor with our Strada Howlers and the Maria bull chop lures. The reefs have been producing nice size greenbacks with Greenough point, south gates, seppo and Drummonds all producing 60cm+ fish there has also been a few 60-70cm soapies north of Drummonds

7

Big Yellow fin whiting Can be caught from Greenough river mouth, town beach and Drummond remember you dont need to cast to far as most of the fish are in the wash of the sand, an incoming tide is also a good time to target these sweet tasting fish.

8

RIVERS The Greenough river has fired up again with another flush of water from recent rain with good reports of 30cm+ bream there has also been big school of tailor 50cm+ smashing up bait fish. Chapman river is again fishing well with black Bream from 35-40cm, well done Brendon and Simon, mulies have been the best bait for the big one.
