Local Community, Respect & Equality Champion set to promote gender equality
/The Community, Respect and Equality (CRE) project is a family violence prevention initiative managed by local family service organisation Desert Blue Connect. It forms part of the CRE Strategic Action Plan for the Prevention of Family Violence in Geraldton.
Zane D’Mello is a CRE Community Champion and a father who sees the importance of promoting gender equality in workplaces as an important step in preventing family violence.
Mr D’Mello says “My wife and I have raised our daughter to believe that she can fulfill her potential in any profession she chooses.”
“Globally there is a link between a country’s gender equality scores and the level of domestic violence. It is important for workplaces to provide leadership in gender equality on a local level to change the attitudes and social norms that allow family violence to be so prevalent in our community.”
