It’s been almost two years since it first opened its doors at Stirlings Central but Zambrero Geraldton is still having a blast riding the Mexican wave.
What most people don’t realise about Zambrero is that its delicious fresh Mexican food does more than just fill hungry bellies; it also gives back in a big way.
The focus for every Zambrero restaurant around Australia (there are now 87 around the country) is to make a positive impact on both a local and global scale.
Locally, Zambrero Geraldton credits its high quality fresh ingredients to suppliers Geraldton Fruit & Veg.
Fresh burrito fillers like tomatoes and lettuce are delivered daily to the restaurant, all as locally sourced as possible and available seasonally. Avocadoes make up a big part of this daily delivery so that guacamole, arguably everyone’s favourite side, can be made in the Zambrero kitchen.
And while mouth-watering fresh Mexican food might be the lure for customers, many leave with the heart-warming knowledge that they’ve done their bit to help someone in need.
On a national and global scale, the sale of every burrito or bowl at Zambrero donates a meal to someone in need through the company’s Plate 4 Plate initiative.
By working with a global distribution partner Stop Hunger now, Zambrero’s Plate 4 Plate has contributed more than 7 million meals to people in need all over the world.
More recently, Zambrero has noticed that hunger is huge hidden problem in our own backyard. With 1 in 10 Australians – half of whom are children – seeking food relief each year, this year Zambrero released a range of retail items including wholesome muesli bars and packets of black rice under the Plate 4 Plate concept.
Franchise Partner and WA local Dominic Hole is excited about the impact that Zambrero’s West Australian restaurants make in Australia and the world. “A lot of people think that we’re just one restaurant here in Geraldton, but actually we are part of a really big and exciting global movement.”
