Aquarena is open - and it's time to vote for a new mascot

It’s now time for the children of Geraldton to have their say on “matters of public importance” and vote for their favourite Aquarena Mascot starting Friday, September 13.

The winning mascot will make appearances on promotional material and in person at the Aquarena and community events.

So who are the hot contenders? Which one of these characters will be elected for Mascot? Will it be sporty Cray Z, the always-on-hand Octomum, fun-loving Pool Pony, or bossy Mr White? The winning candidate will inspire children to get out and get active at the Aquarena – a swimming pool ‘plus’ for children and families.

Geraldton Aquarena Manager, David Emery, said electors can head to one of the voting outlets to make their vote count. Ballot boxes are at the Aquarena, primary schools, children centres, PCYC, Geraldton Regional Library and the City Civic Centre.

“Pool meets technology with youths being able to vote from their Smart Phone using the Geraldton Youth App or online from the Geraldton Youth ‘n‘ Motion Facebook page,” he said.

“The Election closes on Sunday, October 13, so come on kids, get voting for your favourite character.”

Fun things to do at the Aquarena

After being closed for maintenance, the Aquarena is now open and ready to rumble.

The Aquarena is a multi-purpose swimming facility offering a range of activities and services including an outdoor 50m lap pool, an indoor 25m lap pool, leisure pool, water slide and hydrotherapy facilities.

There are activities for all, including learn to swim classes and group fitness sessions, school holiday programs, a crèche, movie and disco nights, and fun things like the BIFF (big inflatable) and SMIFF (small inflatable) action-adventure across the water, and Tarzan rope.
