Seniors only have 3 weeks left to claim rebate

Geraldton MLA Ian Blayney has urged local Seniors Card holders to make sure they have applied for the State Government’s Cost of Living Rebate.

Mr Blayney said time was running out to apply and seniors had just three weeks to apply for the rebate. Applications close on Friday, May 31.

The annual payment was introduced by the Government in 2009 to help seniors with rising living expenses.

People who have received the rebate in previous years will automatically receive the payment this year and need not reapply.

The 2013 payment amount is $159.90 for singles and couples (where both members hold a Seniors Card and live together) will receive $239.90.

Payments are made in late July.
