Strathalbyn Christian College “2019 Bike-a-thon”

Strathalbyn Christian College is dedicated to providing education which enables our students to be successful in the world today, by offering quality academic programs coupled with a strong focus on character development.

For over 40 years, Strathalbyn Christian College has been delivering excellence in education, producing graduates that are “work ready’ because of the values we instil in them such as integrity, respect, diligence and a strong work ethic.

The College’s commitment to helping students recognise the sense of purpose and fulfilment that is created when helping others through works of service. Works of service is a term we use at Strathalbyn Christian College which means “being of service to others”.

The annual Bike-A-Thon, now in its 37 th year, was established by Mrs Pat Calwell, a former Teacher, to encourage students to have an active lifestyle. Students from Kindy through to Year 12 are encouraged to seek sponsorship for riding a set course that encompasses Muir Park and College grounds. Students from Kindy to Year 6 ride a 750-metre course around Muir Park, whilst Secondary students ride a 1.6-kilometre track.

Parents and friends support the students as they do as many laps as they can, so it’s a wonderful community atmosphere.

The Bike-a-thon is the only official College fundraiser where the money raised goes directly back into resources for students. This year we are fundraising for a River Bike Track, which will be developed on the College grounds. Bike riding is a great way to exercise and as the College has extensive grounds that wind down to the Chapman River, this space creates a natural area to build an agility mountain bike track with aspects of a pump track. This area will be open to students at recess and lunchtimes at school and will also be open to residents of the area to use after-hours.

The annual Bike-A-Thon will be held on Saturday 22 May at 2.30pm at Muir Park, Strathalbyn. If you would like to make a donation towards the River Bike Track , donations can be made electronically at https://www.trybooking.com/BCFER

Colin Buchanan Live!

Colin Buchanan is coming back to Strathalbyn Christian College to kick off our 40th Anniversary Year with an action, packed performance for one night only.

For some of us we might remember Colin Buchanan on ABC’s Play School, or maybe it was his role as Presenter in various Channel 7 prime time shows like “Australia’s strangest home improvements” but I think most people would know Colin as a singer songwriter for Christian Children’s music. (http://colinbuchanan.com.au/about)

Colin Buchanan has become a household name when it comes to Christian Children’s music and I am sure his albums have been played on countless family road trips, Sunday schools and classrooms around Australia.

Colin’s performance is action packed with many different characters and lot of energy.

This performance would not be possible without the support of our wonderful sponsors, Turtle Cove Early Learning Centre, Ocean Air Custom Airconditioning Solutions and Centro Dental.

Tickets are on sale now!

Details:

Thursday 21 March @ 6.30pm Strathalbyn Christian College Hall

Tickets $11 each (children under 2 free) Tickets can be purchased online at www.trybooking.com/BAUAB
