A plea for help from BMX club following 3 successive break ins

Hi guys... I am the secretary for the Woorree Park BMX club.

We are needing the assistance of the public. Our club has been targeted and broken into 3 times in the last 13 days.

We hadn't gone public as not to draw too much attention to it but this last time they have taken all our medical supplies.

The first time they took all our food etc from freezers. The thieves are going to great lengths to do these break ins and damage is being done.

The public's help in notifying police if they see something suspicious after dark or even our club presidents number is on the fence.

We urge for anyone or everyone's help please. 😢

Regards,

Jo.

200kg of meth seized following seizure of suspicious boat in Geraldton

Police will be holding a press conference later today in Perth regarding drug seizures related to the suspicious boat that came into Geraldton earlier this month.

It's being reported by ABC that up to 200kg of meth has been seized from an international drug syndicate following raids on homes in Perth on Saturday, in connection with the men arrested.

Details of the case and those charged has been suppressed by the courts up to now.

Around midday on 2 May 2016, some Everything Geraldton readers spotted the suspicious boat in Geraldton's port, and a number of men, pictured below, who according to onlookers "appeared foreign" were seen being questioned by authorities, before being taken away.

Police later confirmed 8 Chinese men with no entry visas for Australia had been arrested and placed in immigration detention, but would not comment on their investigations.

The boat remained in Geraldton's port for several days while it was searched and contents from the boat removed.

Attorney General contacts the Prisoner Review Board regarding Greenough Axe Murderer

Geraldton MLA Ian Blayney has welcomed news that the Attorney General has sent forward his correspondence regarding the sentence review of Greenough Axe Murderer, William Patrick Mitchell, to the Prisoners Review Board.

“I am very pleased that the Attorney General has responded to my letter and to the petition I presented to the Legislative Assembly – which contained 3000 signatures – this way.

“By bringing it to the attention of the Board he is ensuring that they give consideration to the concern of the Geraldton community, when they review Mr Mitchell’s sentence.

“It is my hope that the Board also take into consideration the initial sentencing of Mr Mitchell and that decision that he should never be released from prison,” said Mr Blayney.

Building site on Polwarth Parade being robbed

Just sent in to Everything Geraldton from a resident on Polwarth Pde, Deepdale.

"A loud car has been doing laps up and down the street for a hour or so. We heard a loud bang and I looked outside and saw tailights a going very slowly down the street. A few minutes later the same loud car, a v8, had stopped outside the front of my house and turned off the car. I went outside to look what was happening and saw a man putting a 6m long timber into the back of a well body utility vehicle. I asked him what was he doing and he ran to his car. It struck me as suspicious so I took the rego of the vehicle and he sped off quite quickly down the street. I yelled after him that I got his rego. The car turned into a driveway a little way down the street, I couldn't see which but it was very close. I could hear people talking and doors closing. I had a look at the place I thought they had been stealing from and saw a spotlight torch on a pile of timber that had some missing. I rang the police and told them what happened. Two patrol cars arrived within minutes and did patrols of the area. I don't know if they found the people stealing or not but they seem to have left the area now. They collected the torch from the building site. We are sure someone on the street will know who has a dark loud v8 that has been out driving tonight. I would sure like to know who the person is who has been stealing tonight. I sure don't want them on my street anymore!"

Police unable to comment on suspicious boat in Geraldton port

Image: Mark Guidice. "All happening down at the wharf. Customs and Police swarming over this boat.

Everything Geraldton has had several readers reach out asking about a boat in Geraldton's port today.

Onlookers said there were about 5 to 6 men on board, who seemed to be questioned by officials before being taken away on another boat. This was around midday today.

We contacted Mid West Port Authority who said they were unable to comment.

WA Police released this statement:

"Commonwealth and state agencies work closely together to ensure the safety and security of the Western Australian community. As operational activity is ongoing it would not be appropriate to comment further."

Update: We haven't had firm confirmation of the situation with the boat, but we have been informed that Border Force are saying it was not an "irregular maritime arrival"

The boat witnesses say the men were taken away in.

Today Blayney tabled a petition to keep Greenough Axe Murderer locked up

Blayney tables Axe Murderer Petition with 2548 signatures

Geraldton MLA Ian Blayney presented a petition with 2548 signatures to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly today, protesting against the parole of the Greenough Axe Murderer.

“I will be following up the presentation of the petition with a letter to the Attorney General, once again conveying the message that William Patrick Mitchell should never be released from jail.

“This petition has already been signed by about 10 per cent of Geraldton’s adult population and there are still more signatures to come.

“It is the second time I have petitioned on this matter. The people of Geraldton have again reacted strongly.

“Clearly the community doesn’t want this person released from prison,” said Mr Blayney
