12 and 13 year old girls charged with aggravated burglary with intent

A 12 year old girl from Karloo and a 13 year old girl from Utakarra have been charged, Police say, following an incident that occurred last month in Geraldton. 

Between June 15 and 16, Police allege the girls entered a property on Gregory Street, forcing open a front window. They tried to reach in to unlock the window, but were unable to gain entry. 

As a result of inquiries both girls were arrested and charged with aggravated burglary with intent. They were both bailed to appear in the Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on 28 July 2015. 

Man charged over violent robbery

The ABC has reported that a man has been charged over his alleged involvement in a robbery at a liquor store in Geraldton.

Ornament stolen from gravesite

Everything Geraldton has received a complaint from a very upset member of the community who has had an item stolen from her father's grave site. 

The item was an ornamental cow.

Delivery Truck Driver Assaulted and Wallet Stolen

At about 3.15pm on Friday 10 July 2015 a delivery truck driver whilst loading goods at Centro Stirling Shopping complex allegedly had his wallet stolen from the cab of his truck.

Police will allege two male offenders took the victim’s wallet and using his credit card, attempted to purchase good inside. The victim, alerted to the incident, confronted the males in the store during which time a scuffle ensued. 

It will be alleged, the offenders ran from the store and were promptly located by police still in possession of the wallet. 

A 24 year old male from Beachlands was charged with stealing and a 27 year old male from Wanneroo was charged with attempted fraud and receiving. 

Both were bailed to appear in the Geraldton Magistrates Court on 23 July 2015.

Kid with slingshot issued "juvenile caution" after more cars hit

Police say that at about 10.15am on Sunday 12 July 2015, they responded to a report of youths carrying and firing slingshots at signs and cars.

Police patrolled the Rangeway and Mt Tarcoola area and will alleged a person fitting the description was located. The 16 year old youth from Mahomets Flats was searched and a quantity of rocks found in his jacket pocket with a factory produced slingshot.

The items were seized and the youth was issued a juvenile caution.

Major drug busts by Geraldton Police

Throughout the week Geraldton Police have conducted a number of searches on homes in the Geraldton area, as part of a major drug sting. 

Six people have been arrested and charged. Their charges range from possing drugs and drug paraphernalia to intent to sell and supply drugs. 

Police also uncovered large amounts of what is believed to be stolen property. 

A large number of cannabis plants have been seized, as well as amounts of what is believed to be crystal meth.

Drug Warrants Executed

Throughout the week, officers attached to the Geraldton Local Policing Team have executed a number of Misuse of Drugs Act search warrants within the Geraldton sub-district in relation to illegal drug activity.

At about 6:15am on Tuesday 7 July 2015 police attended a residential address on Scott Road, Rangeway.

Following the execution of a warrant, police allege that several items of interest were located. It will be alleged that an amount of cannabis and crystal substance was located along with other drug paraphernalia.

A 24 year old female from Rangeway was subsequently charged with possess prohibited drug and possessed drug paraphernalia while a 27 year old male also from Rangeway was charged with possess prohibited drug. Both will appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date. 

Further;

At about 12:00pm on Tuesday 7 July 2015 police attended a residential address on Abelia Street, Rangeway.

Following the execution of a warrant, a number of items were seized. It is alleged that a drug smoking implement as well as two swords and a machete were seized.

A 32 year old from Mullewa was charged with possess drug paraphernalia and will appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date.

Further;

At about 6:10am on Wednesday 8 July 2015 police attended a residential address on Hammond Street, Spalding.

Following the execution of a warrant, police allege that a large amount of property, believed to be stolen, along with drug paraphernalia, cannabis and white crystal substance was located.

A 48 year old male from Spalding charged with two counts of possessing stolen property and a 41 year old female also from Spalding charged with possess prohibited drug will both appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police are conducting further inquiries in relation to the various property items located in an attempt to return the items to the identified owners.

Yet another drug driver caught

A 34 year old male, and a 34 year old female, both from Karloo, were charged after a traffic stop by Police early this morning. 

Around 12:15am this morning, Geraldton Police stopped a Holden Commodore wagon on Naomi Way, Karloo. 

Officers conducted a drug test on the driver, which returned a positive result. 

Upon searching one of the male occupants’ in the vehicle, police allege that a small amount of white crystal substance within a clip seal bag, believed to be methylamphetamine, was located.

Police also discovered that the driver, as well as another occupant in the vehicle, had outstanding warrants for their arrest. 

A 34 year old male from Karloo was charged with breach of bail and possess prohibited drug while a 34 year old female from Karloo was charged with breach of bail. Both will appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court this morning.

Traffic Stops Uncovers Prohibited Plants

At about 9:30pm on Saturday 4 July 2015 a Ford Futura sedan was travelling along Vincent Street, Spalding.

Officers attached to the Geraldton Local Policing Team conducted a traffic stop with the driver where it will be alleged that four cannabis plants were located within the vehicle.

The 22 year old male driver from Wonthella was subsequently charged with possess / cultivate prohibited plant. He will appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date.

Traffic Charges

At about 3:45pm on Monday 6 July 2015 a Holden Rodeo truck was travelling along Forrest Street, near Chapman Road, Geraldton.

Geraldton police conducted a traffic stop following the vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign. It will be alleged that the driver tested positive for alcohol as a result of a breath test.

The 38 year old male driver from Wandina was conveyed to the Geraldton Police Station where he was subsequently charged with excess .08 and issued with a disqualification notice. He will appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date.

And further;

At about 5:00pm on Monday 6 July 2015 a Honda Accord sedan was travelling along Eastern Road, near Waldeck Street, Geraldton.

Officers attached to Mid West-Gascoyne Traffic unit conducted a traffic stop with the driver. It will be alleged that the driver provided a positive breath test result for alcohol.

The 66 year old male from Geraldton will appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date charged with excess .05.

Assault Charges

At about 2:30pm on Monday 6 July 2015 two female persons started arguing on Oleander Crescent, Rangeway.

It will be alleged that the verbal arguing elevated to physical fighting between the two. Upon being separated by others in the vicinity, one of the female parties obtained possession of a house brick, holding it in her hand.

It will further be alleged that the female person wielded the brick above her head before throwing it at the female victim striking her on the head.

The victim sustained a laceration to her head which required medical treatment.

The 33 year old female from Utakarra was subsequently arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. She will appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court on 23 July 2015.

Aboriginal Corp. officers have assets frozen by court after "borrowing" $1.7million

Former officers of the Geraldton based Murchison Region Aboriginal Corporation, executive officer, Ashley Taylor, and financial officer, Abul Shahid, have had their assets frozen by the Federal Court after an audit found they had made unapproved loans to themselves totalling about $1.7million.

The ABC:

The registrar said both men had repaid most of the money but still owed the corporation more than $300,000.

However, it gets even messier:

It is alleged Mr Shahid used money from the Wajarri People's Trust, of which he was the trustee, to repay money borrowed from the corporation.

Crossbow Seized

At about 11:25pm on Thursday 2 July 2015 a Holden Commodore sedan was travelling along Chapman Road, Bluff Point.

Geraldton local police team conducted a vehicle stop where it is alleged upon searching the vehicle a cross bow was located.

A 27 year old male from Meekatharra will appear at the Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date charged with carry or possess prohibited weapon. 

18 year old loses car for 4 weeks for hooning

At about 7.20pm on Thursday 2 July 2015 a male drove a Holden Commodore out of Green Street onto North West Coastal Highway, Spalding.

It will be alleged, police observed the male as he exited Green Street accelerating heavily causing the rear wheels to lose traction and rear of the vehicle to slide out to the left into heavy traffic.

The 18 year old male from Drummond Cove was stopped by police and charged with Reckless driving under Hoon Legislation. The man’s vehicle was seized for 28 days and he will face Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date. 

Police ask for public's help over rock throwing

The Geraldton Police have asked the public for their assistance over the large number of rock throwing incidents in the community. 

Police say they have had several reports of rock throwing on roads between the Durlacher Street Overpass on North West Coastal Highway and Utakarra Road, as well as Rangeway and Geraldton-Mt Magnet Road.

A statement from the Geraldton Police said "In order to implement strategies to combat this problem we are seeking the public’s assistance for information on suspicious activity around this problem. If you have information about rock throwing incidents or know someone who may be able to assist with inquiries, please contact Geraldton Police Station on 9923 4555."

Truck driver cut from thrown rocks

We have just received a report of a truck driver being cut after a window in the truck he was driving was smashed. 

The incident occurred 200m East of the John Willcock overpass.  

According to the report sent to Everything Geraldton, kids were hiding in the bushes.  

The driver reportedly received a cut to his neck. 

 

 

Street fight results in multiple arrests with Bucky's assistance

Three men have been charged after a fight at the intersection of Utakarra Rd and Rifle Range Rd was broken up by Police last night. 

According to Police, around 9:30pm on Thursday night (25/6/15) the Police Canine Unit was conducting patrols in Rangeway when they say they spotted three males fighting. 

Despite intervening and requesting the men to stop, the fight continued with the men yelling and swearing at the Police. 

Police arrested one of the men, and a second man decided it was a good idea to try and intervene in the arrest, according to Police. Bucky the Police Dog assisted with the arrest of the second man. 

A 30 year old male will face Geraldton Magistrates Court on 16 July facing charges of disorderly conduct and obstruct police.

A 29 year old male from Karloo will also face Geraldton Magistrates Court on this day facing charges of obstruct police.

A 48 year old male from Rangeway will be summonsed and face Geraldton Magistrates Court on charges of disorderly conduct at a future date. 

Stingers deployed in vehicle pursuit

 

Police have arrested two 12 year old girls and a 16 year old girl after stoping stolen car they were driving early this morning. 

Police say that around 3:20am this morning they saw a stolen Suzuki hatchback heading north along Brand Hwy in the Greenough area.  

Shortly after this in Tarcoola Beach Police signalled the vehicle to stop. The driver decided to keep driving and headed into town. 

Officers subsequently deployed a “Stinger” tyre deflation device in front of the vehicle, which successfully deflated two of the stolen vehicle’s tyres. The vehicle continued for a short distance before the occupants abandoned it and attempted to flee the area, allowing the vehicle to collide with the fence of a residential property.

Two 12 year old females and a 16 year old female were arrested at the scene and will face court this morning. 

A vehicle similar to this was stopped by Police.
